Digital Databases and Digital Tools for WBD and WLD |
||
DescriptionThe project "digital databases and digital tools for WBD and WLD" ("D-square" in short) aims to digitize the enormous amounts of dialect data (about 3 million records) as published in the many fascicles of two large Dutch dialect dictionaries, for the provinces of Brabant (Woordenboek van de Brabantse Dialecten = WBD) and the provinces of Limburg (Woordenboek van de Limburgse Dialecten = WLD). These dictionaries are very extensive, traditional dialect-lexicographic projects which were initiated in 1960. Besides making the data digitally accessible, the D-square project aims to add new linguistic information to the existing data and to develop digital research tools, including contemporary cartographic tools. For more information on D-square please see the project website. |
